Meet the team
It takes a whole team to run the farm. Meet our humans and our furry friends.
Our Farmers
Johann
Johann is passionate about regenerative farming. He has done extensive research on the topic and is very knowledgeable. He is the brain behind the operation.
Isabelle
Isabelle is very "hands on" and runs the farm on a day to day basis. She loves crafts and learning new things. She is the "Donkey Lady", having a special bond with Ricky and Anneke.
Our Human friends
We have permanent employees who help us run the farm. It is only six acres but it does take a lot of work! It is not just about the garden and the land, we also process a lot of food.
Our Furry Friends
Gully
Gully is a retired sniffer dog. he has worked for Guernsey Police for 8 very successful years, finding drugs, money and fire arms. Gully is now enjoying a calm and playful retirement at Les Adams Farm.
Ricky
Ricky was born in June 2021. He is a miniature Mediterranean donkey. He is fully grown and yet the smallest bread of donkeys in the world. He has bonded with Anneke for life. He has to see her at all times.
Anneke
Anneke was born in April 2020. She is also a pure breed miniature Mediterranean donkey. She is the boss and feels very responsible for Ricky. Anneke and Ricky have learnt to pull a carriage.
The Sheep
Our sheep are Jacobs, a rare heritage breed. They like to be left alone to graze the field. We have three ewes. This year we have had two little lambs called Les and Adam. They are very playful but quite wild...
The Ducks
We keep Muscave ducks. They are very placid ducks and enjoy roaming the field, sleeping (lots) and playing on the pond. They can eat vast amounts!. They like to go up and down the field in a single line.
The Chickens
Our chickens are Light Sussex. They are a foraging breed., meaning they find their own food. Their main job is to eat the worms on the paddock and keep it clean for the sheep. They also lay eggs and are good parents.
The Geese
Our geese are at least 15 years old, maybe more. They hang around the coop the whole day and protect the patch. They are very territorial and don't allow seagulls and other unwanted visitors.
The Bees
Isabelle used to be a bee keeper but she has become allergic to their sting so the bees now belong to a friend who looks after them on our farm. There are three active beehives this year.
The Compost
The compost is at the very heart of the farm. We make a lot every year to feed our garden and regenerate our land. We rely on lots or organisms to turn raw ingredients into amazing food for the soil.
The Local Fauna
Beyond our barn doors, Les Adams Farm is surrounded by a vibrant ecosystem of local wildlife. From the soaring marsh harriers above our fields to the quiet movements in the hedgerows, these wild neighbours are an essential part of our farm's natural harmony.
Birds of Prey
Frequently seen soaring above our paddocks, these majestic raptors help maintain the balance of our local ecosystem with their keen sight and graceful flight.
Rabbits
The clever red fox is a elusive visitor at twilight. While we keep our chickens safe, we admire the intelligence and beauty of these nocturnal neighbors.
Hedgehogs
Our garden's favorite helper, the hedgehog, is often found foraging among the leaves. We maintain wild corridors to ensure they have safe passage through the farm.
Seagulls
While they are common visitors from the coast, seagulls are often found exploring our open fields, always on the lookout for a quick snack during plowing season.
Owls
The silent hunters of the night, barn owls are our natural pest control. Their haunting white forms can sometimes be seen drifting over the barn at twilight.
Rats
We are not so keen on these guys... We do not use any kind of poison on the farm. We have hunters who visit regularly to control the rat population and keep it under control.
